Vopak IMT Exercise

This year, NJR conducted its 25th Incident Management Team exercise for Vopak. The exercise focused on the reactive phase of the response – a stage crucial to limiting the scale of the incident.  Vopak worked effectively with agencies and response contractors to prevent the release from impacting the Port of Los Angeles.

During this exercise, Vopak worked with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) Volunteer Coordinator and also worked with the CDFW Applied Response Technologies (ART) coordinator who approved use of the cleaning agent, Cytosol.  The exercise included the break-out and extinguishment of a fire near the release site.  The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was used to extinguish the fire as Vopak prepared to activate the Southern California Industrial Mutual-Aid Organization (SCIMO) if needed.
