NJ Resources, Inc. (NJR) assisted in the design and successful execution of a Tier III full scale exercise conducted for Shell in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil July, 2017.  The exercise was a joint effort by Shell and SBM Offshore (SBM Offshore provides floating production solutions to the offshore energy industry).  The exercise involved a scenario based on a simulated collision impacting the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel offshore in Brazilian waters. In 2016 the team exercised the reactive phase, notification, mobilization and initial response activity.  This year the exercise picked up on day two of that response, headed into the pro-active phase and included an escalation event that increased the magnitude of the simulation.  This was a one-day exercise that was preceded by emergency and crisis training for the integrated Shell / SBM Offshore incident management team.  Over 150 people participated in the exercise and this included personnel from response contractors, agencies, and industry partners as well as the Shell/SBM Offshore team.
